Where did you grow up?
West Side (Cincinnati) – moved and finished high school at Fairfield
When did you become a member of the Cornerstone community?
I originally joined in May of 2014 after running my first half marathon, but left after about six
months for personal reasons and rejoined in October 2016. I started because I saw my
competitive gymnast daughter getting stronger and gaining mobility in Ms. Giselle’s kid’s class.
On my birthday of this year, May 17 th I decided to go from two days a week to unlimited when
my tribe leader/coach, Simon, asked what would it take to get you here more… the only birthday
gift I’ve ever bought myself and the best gift ever!
What do you do when you are not at Cornerstone? (occupation, hobbies, etc.)
I am a wife and mother of 4, my oldest Taylor (our gymnast) and boys Bryce, Ely and Keyton
(who LOVE J.D.’s kids class). We have two dogs (German shepherd and husky) and a turtle. I
work full time for US Acute Care Solutions as an emergency medicine nurse practitioner, I’ve
been in nursing over 16 years with 12+ in the ER. I love anything outside that includes my kids,
living life one moment at time. I enjoy anything that has to do with medicine, so much I’m going
back for my fifth nursing degree this month!
What is your favorite WOD/movement?
Anything with a barbell, mostly Clean & Jerks
What is your least favorite WOD/movement?
Burpees – they make me dizzy (I would say DU, but I’m getting so much better at them).

What is your favorite accomplishment/PR since becoming a part of Cornerstone?
FINALLY learning double unders (thanks Simon!) & Power Cleaning 145# x2
What is something about yourself that we might not know?
My dad made me learn how to drive a manual, without power steering and backwards before I
could get me license. I love driving manual transmission, driving makes me think of where I’ve
been and where you’re going, but never look back. My favorite movies are Fast and Furious and
I relate to living life “a quarter mile at a time…nothing else matters” life is short and an instant it
can be lost forever!
What advice would you give to someone just getting starting at Cornerstone?
Never EVER give up and listen to your coaches/tribe leaders, they have your best interest. There
are days that you’ll suck and that’s ok. There are days where you think you’ll never get
something, but you will. It took me 8 months to understand the concept of double unders. ��.
CrossFit is like education, it’s a process – no one gets good at in a day. Remember it’s ok to go
back to the basics of fundamentals when you struggle with a movement. Make sure you EAT,
it’s fuel and it’s ok to have a “treat” every now and then. Never EVER compare yourself to the
person next to you, we all struggle with something and we’re all going at our OWN pace, be
proud of yourself for just walking in the gym to push yourself. LISTEN to your body, if it’s
injured STOP and get it looked at Mobility Fit is a great place to start. If it’s just general
soreness, remember, you’re WOD only last so long (there’s always an end) and when you’re
tired you still have another 40% deep down inside, find that 40%. Think of something that’s
heart wrenching, that will push you just to finish, find your fire. I tell my daughter when she is
conditioning to think of all the kids in the hospital with cancer – when she gets tired FIGHT for
them. Why do I stand at the back of the class, facing the wrong way… now you know… are you
AmeriCAN or AmeriCAN’T. Always do YOU!
What goals do you have for the rest of 2017?
I started doing competitive program after the Comp meeting, so I want to keep working on this.
